Rubric for final project (essay/presentation)

Introduction

1. Include a summary of your original proposal (hypothesis, etc.)
2. Your personal reasons for choosing to explore this aspect of language
3. A description of your methodology
4. Reference to your influences (readings from the class binder, outside research, TEDTalks, etc)

Body

1. Share your research (graphs, lists, etc)
2. Discuss your research (compare to other, similar studies; analyze results through the conceptual lens of the theory we have studied)
3. Identify limitations, problems, concerns of your research (too many variable, manipulation of data, not enough data, etc)

Closing

1. Summarize findings and compare results to original hypothesis
2. What will you take away from this experience?
3. What do your results say about the SOCIOLOGY of Buxton? Would your results have been different in a different setting? How so?
4. Further study: Can you imagine  a way for the results of your study to be  used for some sort of socio-political ends? Would it be interesting for you to pursue a diachronic study of this same phenomena? etc...

3-5 pages, typed, Times New Roman 12 pt font etc... include a BIBLIOGRAPHY (can include texts we've reviewed in class, talks/podcasts, and other independently identified resources)
